Global Champions Tour, Hamburg, Friday.

The horses have been going well at the Global Champions Tour at Hamburg, Germany.

Tinka's Serenade jumped a clear in the big class yesterday and I could have ridden better in the jump off, so she has no blame for a couple of fences of.

Je T'aime Flamenco jumped a nice round in the accumulator warm up yesterday with one down. He jumped a clear in the big class today and I will jump him in the Grand Prix of Hamburg tommorrow as he feels on good form.

Molly Malone had a fence down yesterday and jumps the young horse class tommorrow.

All in all not a bad weekend so far but a touch of luck would be nice.

Global Champions Tour, Hamburg, Germany.

This weekend I head to the Global Champions Tour in Hamburg, Germany.

I am taking Tinka's Serenade, Je T'aime Flamenco and Molly Malone.

Depending on how Je T'aime goes, I might jump im in the Grand Prix as he felt really good last weekend at Newark and Notts. As he is just on his way back to full fitness, I will see how he goes and whether he feels ready for it. This would mean Tinka would jump the smaller classes giving her an easy weekend and Molly Malone will jump the third classes.

The Grand Prix is on Saturday and I start jumping tomorrow (Thursday)

You can view the schedule here: http://media.gct.tv/uploads/events/hamburg/provisional_timetable.pdf

You can view the start lists and results here: http://www.globalchampionstour.com/events/2012/hamburg/results/

You can watch live for free here: http://www.globalchampionstour.com/

It would be nice to have a big win this weekend, I am due one!

Fingers crossed!

Newark and Nottinghamshire County Show Round Up

I had a nice weekend at Newark and Notts County Show. The horses all jumped well. It was nice to do a show at home for a change.

Wings Sublieme was unlucky in her classes and jumped well.

Je T'aime Flamenco feels on great form and he was third in the major class of the show, the Mattie Brown Stakes, which if you look at the past winners of this class has a great history.

I was also part of a fund raising effort at Newark and Notts show. I teamed up with Lime Orchard and the charity Greenfingers to launch a competition for Nottinghamshire school children, to design an Olympic themed Garden. The funds raised by the competition go to the charity who specialise in providing great gardens in childrens hopices thoughout the UK.

You can support our efforts at Just Giving here: http://www.justgiving.com/limeorchard

So all in all I had a good weekend and helped a worthy cause!

Global Champions Tour Valencia, Round Up

The final day of the Global Champions Tour in Valencia went well yesterday.

Tinka had felt a little bit fresh in the Grand Prix on Saturday, as she only jumped one round I decided to jump her again on Sunday, she redeemed herself and jumped really good to be second in the 1.50m class and felt on her best form.

Romanov jumped consistaly well all weekend and was 6th in the second class.

All in all not a bad weekend!

Global Champions Tour Valencia

This weekend I am competing on the Global Champions Tour in Valencia.

I am travelling Tinka's Serenade and Romanov there, both of whom had a weekend of last weeknd so I am hoping they will be fresh and fighting fit.

Valancia has been a good show for me in the past and Je T'Aime Flamenco won the Grand Prix here last year so a repeat performance with Tinka would be brilliant!

My plan is to give both horses a warm up class on Friday, Tinka will jump the Grand Prix on Saturday and Romanov jumps competitively Saturday and Sunday.

I will keep you informed how I get on.

An image of me has been used on the poster campagn for the event around Valencia which is quite a complement.

Antwerp Round Up

Last weekend I had a good show with a younger team of horses in Antwerp.

Wings Sublieme just missed out on winning a car when being third early on in the show and she had an unlucky fence down in the Grand Prix jump off on the final day.

Molly Malone jumped consistanly well and picked up some minor placings.

Je T'aime Flamenco on his way back to full fitness jumped good all weekend and was clear on the first day and jumped the small Grand Prix for clear and 4.

Wales and West Roundup

This weekend I had a good weekend at Wales and West.

Wings Sublieme jumped well all wekend and jumped two clears in the grand Prix and was well placed.

Molly Malone was 3rd in the 7/8 year old championship.

Je T'aime Flamenco felt back to his best and was on fine form, jumping the Grand Prix for a clear and 4.

Whilst I was dreading the thought of the conditions, Wales and West was none to bad considering the amount of rain we had and hats of to the organisers for providing good competition under the circumstances.

It was also nice to be at a show with Anthony to see how all the young horses are going.

Special Lux jumped extremely well in the 7/8 year old final to be 4th, it does not pay to beat the boss!!!!

In all seriousness he looks like a very smart horse.

This weekend I head to Antwerp with the same three horses.

Whats Happening This Weekend

Due to the bad weather they are experiencing in Lummen I have decided not to jump at Lummen this weekend.

I am diverting to Wales and West as I may as well be wet and miserable in the UK as in Belgium and not have far to travel home at the end of the weekend!

Wings Sublieme and Molly Malone head out for competition and Je T'aime Flamenco is coming for the ride on his way back in to work after a long stud break.

The forcast is not looking good so lets hope its not to miserable a weekend. I start jumping tommorrow and will keep you informed of how I get on.

I visited Luidam at Stud this week in Galway and he looks on fine form and like a 4 year old. He is enjoying his retirement and it is looking like he is going to be very busy with mares in Ireland and England this year.

If your still deciding what stallion to use on your mares this year please visit Pewit Stud's website to find out more about Luidam and Je T'aime Flamenco!

I have been using Flawborough Equine (near Nottingham) to improve the conditioning of my horses.

I am competing week in and week out against the best in the world.

With this in mind, I can't afford to leave any stone unturned to ensure that my horses are in peak condition, they recover quickly from strenuous competition and any minor issues are detected and treated immediately before they can escalate into bigger issues. The horses also enjoy the whole spa treatment experience which inturn helps their general well being.

They have a wide range of treatments available at Flawborough. I have been particularly intersted in the Cold Salt Water Hydrotherapy. Sea water is an age old treatment for healing and repair, whilst improving suppleness and mobility and I have seen great results.

Adtionnally I have found the thermography has been very useful to monitor my horses recovery from intense activity.

Doha, Qatar, roundup.

I had a great weekend in Doha, Qatar.

I had Tinka's Serenade and Romanov with me and they both jumped really well all weekend.

Romanov was 4th and 7th in his classes.

Tinka was 5th on the first day and follwed this up with a 4th in the Grand Prix on the final day, hundreths of a second split the first few so she was not so far away.

I am having a few days holiday with the children whilst they are on the easter break in Mallorca, its great to have some family time and they are growing so quick!

My next show will be at Lumen with the younger string of horses. I am probably taking Molly Malone, Wings Sublieme and maybe Je T'aime Flamenco after his long holiday.

My next major show will be the Global Champions Tour in Valencia in a few weeks time for Tinka's Serenade and Romanov.

Here are some pictures from the Global Champions Tour in Doha thanks to Stefano Grasso/GCT.

Global Champions Tour, Doha, Qatar, Friday

This weekend sees the the openning leg of the Global Champions Tour in Doha, Qatar.

Tinka's Serenade and Romanov travelled out here late last week and I flew out yesterday.

The facilities on the Global Champions Tour are second to none and the team behind the event leave no stone unturned to ensure the event is great for spectators, owners and riders.

Romanov jumps first at 6pm this evenning and is 41st to go. Tinka jumps at 8:30pm and is 21st to go.

Tinka has had a bit of a break so I am hoping she will have enjoyed it and come out on great form.

The big money is on offer tomorrow in the Grand Prix so I will be aiming just to jump a nice round with Tinka today and set her up ready for the Grand Prix.

You can follow all the results live here: http://www.globalchampionstour.com/events/2012/doha/results/

Fingers crossed for a good weekend!

A Family Weekend

This weekend I had a weekend with the family at home for a change it was great to spend some time with Joanne and the kids.

It also gave me an opportunity to work all the young horses for a few days consecutively and get to know them better.

Special Lux has been shuttled to Pewit as Anthony will be able to give him far more outings than I have managed in the last few months and he needs to get some milage now. He benefited from the few weeks on the Sunshine Tour so we would like to continue that progress. He is looking good.

Tinka's Serenade and Romanov leave on Friday from Leige to fly to Doha for the start of the Global Champions Tour 2012 and we start jumping there a week on Thursday.

I am hopefully having another quiet weekend at home this weekend but plans can change at Springfield Farm.....

While things are quiet and there is not much to report. Please take 5 minutes to visit my sponsors who I am eternally grateful to and are investing so much in our sport.

Round Up From Hermes, Grand Palais, Paris

I had a great weekend in Paris at the Hermes show at the Grand Palais.

Tinka and Romanov had a few good placings throughout the weekend.

On Sunday, Romanov won his class in good company and Tinka's Serenade was third in a the Grand Prix.

The Grand Prix track was big and very technical. Whilst the venue is a superb one, the arena is tight.

Katharina Offel won the class with an unbelievable round with 100th of a second between Christian Ahlmann and myself for second and third.

Tinka jumped class in both rounds and I could not have been more pleased.

I now have a few weekends at home hopefully working with the young horses and getting them out to some training shows.

Grand Prix Day, Hermes, Paris

I have not had a bad weekend so far at the Hermes Show at the the Grand Palais in Paris.

Tinka's Serneade jumped a really nice clear on Friday to be 8th as a warm up and then had a day off yesterday with just a touch of light work.

Romanov had a warm up class on Friday and jumped lovely yesterday to be 6th in his class.

Romanov jumps this morning and is 28th to go in his class and the Grand Prix is this afternoon and Tinka is 22nd to go.

The Grand Palais is a really spectacular venue with a glass roof and the show has been playing to full enthusiastic French crowds all weekend.

Lets hope for a little luck this afternoon when there is some great money on offer!

Happy Mothers Day to all Mums, including my own and my wife Joanne!

Ivekka is the mother of LB Rendam and Luikka, both super star horses so the new arrival has a lot to live up to!

The colt foal is bay with 4 white sox.

We wish them well with their exciting young prospect!!

Valencia Sun Shine Tour Final Week

Well thats the final weekend of the Valencia Sunshine Tour over.

All the horses jumped really well. Aminka, Special Lux and Molly Malone all jumped some nice clears this weekend and Wings Sublieme had the last fence of in the Grand Prix and was unlucky.

This weekend I am heading to the 5* show in Paris with Tinka's Serenade and Romanov.

There is some great money on offer at this great show so I am looking forward to a good weekend.

I will let you know how I get on

Billy Secures Ireland a Place at the Olympics and Valencia Sun Shine Tour Week Three

It has been great to spend some time with the young horses as I have not been able to of late, due to all the travelling involved with securing the place for Ireland at London 2012, which we have successfully acheived and has been confirmed this week.

Week three of the Valencia sunshine tour went well.

Molly Malone, Aminka, Special Lux all jumped really well over the weekend and Sublieme Wings was unlucky in the Grand Prix ending up in the top ten.

Frank Rothenburger was course building last week and it was great to jump the youngsters round some good courses.

Whilst it may apear I have not won much in Valencia, that was never the reason for jumping here, it was always for experience for the young horses and for me to find out more about them and they have definately grown up since being here.

Last week at Valencia next weeknd, I will let you know how I get on.

Gothenburg World Cup Qualifier, Thursday

Jumping begins today in Gothenburg. Romanov has a big class tonight. The money is good here throughout the weekend so it would be nice to pick some up.

I will probably jump him today and tomorrow, give him a day off Saturday in preparation for the World Cup Qualifier on Sunday.

The Olympic Qualifying league table appears to be sorted but the offical date is the 1st of March, Dennis and I are both still in qualifying positions, lets hope thats confirmed as soon as possible.

I still need World Cup Qualifying points for the final so lets hope I can collect some this weekend.

I will let you know how I get on.
