At Monday's press briefing in Dublin, Team Ireland
Equestrian’s Show Jumping Manager Robert Splaine confirmed that he had
selected three of the five riders to represent Ireland in Show Jumping.

Denis Lynch; Lantinus or Nabab's Son
Cian O’ Connor; K Club Lady
Billy Twomey; Tinka’s Serenade or Je T’aime Flamenco

The Games take place in Kentucky, USA, from September 26th to October
10th.

Billy Comments ' both my horses have been on great form this season and the selectors have found it difficult to choose between them, recently Je Taime Flamenco jumped the Hickstead Nations Cup for 4 faults in round one and a clear in round two and Tinka's Serenade jumped the Dublin Nations Cup for Clear in round one and 4 faults in round two which was the best Irish performance.

I am delighted for Sue and Ed Davies, who own both horses, who have been great supporters and owners for me throughout my career and hopefully this justifies the support they have given me over the years. In this sport it is difficult to retain long term backers which Sue and Eddie have been and I hope this gives them all the pleasure they deserve, whilst encouraging them to continue owning World Class horses that I can ride.

I would also like to thank all my sponsors and supporters, without their financial help this would not be possible.

Great Results in Dublin for Twomey

Billy had a great show in Dublin.

Whilst the Super League status of Ireland was confirmed the week before at Hickstead, it was still important that Ireland produced good team results which we did here being second in the Aga Khan Trophy.

Tinka's Serenade jumped super in the Nations Cup Team competition for a clear in the first round and 4 faults in the second round, it was a tough demanding track and she jumped a couple of cracking rounds. Tinka's perfomance was the best of the Irish team members.

Tinka went on to win the small Grand Prix towards the end of the show which rounded of a great week for her.

Je taime Flamenco had a good week, being third in the Grand Prix, beaten by half a second by Maclain Ward and the current European Champion Kevin Staute. The course was one of the biggest I have seen in a while so I was really pleased with Je Taime.

Recent form has raised my position to 25th in the World Rankings.

Spanish Sunshine Tour 2010

Billy Twomey’s Round Up of The Spanish Sunshine Tour 2010.

Billy has now returned from the Spanish Sunshine Tour held at Montenmedio, Vejer de la Frontera, Spain.

The show was a great opportunity to get the younger horses firing on all cylinders ready for the outdoor season.

Sue Davies’s Tinkers Serenade jumped really well having just unlucky time faults in Grand Prix’s 3 and 4 and jumping double clear in the final Invitational Grand Prix to be placed fourth.

The Davies’s Blue Thunder suffered with travel sickness on the journey out to Spain and only returned to full work for the final weekend of the tour being well placed in two classes on the final weekend.

Vince Connaughton’s Cavin M had a good tour winning 2 classes throughout the tour.

The young horses all jumped well throughout the tour gaining numerous placings over the weekends.

Flamenco wins in Amsterdam again!

Je Taim Flamenco made a victorious come back from injury, by taking the top prize of 22,500 euros in the Amsterdam CSI4* Grand Prix for the second year running.

Twomey jumped one of 6 clear rounds out of a strong field of 47. Having the last draw in the jump off round played to Billy's advantage. As he sat and watched fellow riders cut corners including Robert Whitaker on Udo (who finished 3rd), he knew exactly what line to take. Keeping it smooth and wasting no time Billy took 1 sec off dutch rider Micheal Greeves on Ronaldo.

Billy plans to go to Abu Dabi next week on Nations Cup duty.

Grand Prix 1,2 @ Aintree

Wertherroschen took the £2000 Grand Prix at Aintree this weekend finishing just over a second ahead of Billy on Lucie de Brecey. Both horses posted the only two treble clear rounds of the 46 starters.Viceroy also put in a very good performance to finish in 5th place in his first Grand Prix.He also had a 3rd place finish in the Grand Prix Qualifier.

Still to come put in a couple of very impressive performances in the 1.30 Qualifiers and Final jumping 2 double clears finishing 6th in the Final.

Adelgonde Z took first place in saturdays H&H Foxhunter jumping double clear.

Billy got off to a great start to this years Horseof the year Show by winning the opening speed class on Ahmed S. Hamsho's Ceaser finishing just ahead of Britians John Whitaker.In the final class of the show the Speed horse of the year he finished 6th.

Sue Davies'sTinkas Serinade jumped a nice double clear in the first jump off class earning 6th place. She then went on to take 8th place in the following nights big class with an unlucky fence down.

John Steeles Adelgonde Z jumped a fantastic double clear to claim 2nd place in the Newcomers final being narrowley pipped by Matt Sampson.

Another of Sue Davies's horses,Werrtheroschen jumped in the Puissance where she took 2nd place by jumping over 7ft1 in the 4th round.

Mountinus Colorado took 7th place in the opening nights Grand Prix qualifier with an impressive double clear, and in the Grand Prix he was 12th jumping clear in the first round and having the last fence down in the jump off.

Ceaser jumped into 4th place in saturdays speed class.

Viceroy jumped a very impressive treble clear in the PCA Futura qualifier finishing in 3rd place he was also placed in the Star of the Future class.

Ceaser took 2nd place in the Grand Prix qualifier and Lucie De Brecey was placed in the other qualifier just having an unlucky one down in the Grand Prix.

Adelgonde Z was in good form takin 6th place in the 6 year olds.

Wertherroschen jumped the puissance jumping over 2meters to take 2nd place.

Unstopable Cavinem claimed victory in the opening speed class of the show she then added further sucess by taking 2nd and 4th the in the other speed competitions.

Mountinus colorado took the 1.50 jump off finishing over 2 seconds ahed of his closest rival,

Tinkas Serinade put up the most impressive performance by finishing in 2nd place in the Grand Prix taking in £18,000.

Cavinem continued he impressive form in Chantilly with two 3rd placeings in the 1.40 speed classes, Mountinus Colorado was 10th in the 1.50 class on saturday and Tinkas Serinade finished 10th in the Grand Prix just having an unlucky fence down in the jump off.

Scope: Adelgonde Z jumped double clear in the Newcomers Masters, Lucie De Brecey was placed in the 1.40 qualifier as was Mountinus Colorado, he then went on to take the Gents championship with Cruisings Micky Finn finishing in 2nd place. In the 1.30 championship Ceaser took 2nd place and Cavinem was 3rd. Mountinus Colorado was 5th in the Grand Prix.

DUBLIN: Billy was competing at the Faltie Ireland Dublin, he took Je Taim Flamenco,Cavinem and Blue Thunder, Cavinem was the most consistant performer taking 2nd place in the Dublin speed stakes and also 2nd in the Acumulator,Je Taim Flamenco was part of the Irish team that finished 5th in the Final Maydem Nations cup

SHREWSBURY:Yet again Cavinem was the most consistant performer winning the speed class on the saturday and placed on the friday.Mountinus colorado was placed in the Grand Prix and Cruisings Micky Finn was placed in the Trial.

Hickstead and Gijon

HICKSTEAD:We had a good week at Hickstead despite the rain billy started well taking second place with Ceaser in the 1.35 speed class and third place with Mountinus Colorado in the international speed on saturday. Cruisings Micky Finn jumped a brillianyt double clear in the Queens Cup finishing in third place, and KEC Maximum Joe was part of the Irish team which also finished third in the Maydem super league comfirming their place in next years competition. And Je T'aim Flamenco was unlucky to just have the last fence down in the Grand Prix.

GIJON: Billy had another good start wit Mountinus Colorado takin third place in the Big class on the first day,Tinkas serinade jumped a good clear in the speed class and Cruisings Micky Finn jumped clear in the first round of the Big class and had an unlucky fence down in the jump off. Blue Thunder was in the Nations cup team that finished fourth.Tinkas serinade jumped clear again in the speed class wihch Billy won on Ceaser in great style.In the Grand Prix on sunday Tinkas Serinade had an unlucky fence down in the first round, and in mondays Grand prix Mountinus Colorado took a very creditable fifth place.

Hickstead this week

Billy is off to Hickstead this week, he is taking 5 horses there.KEC Maximum Joe, Mountinis Colorado, and Je Taim Flamenco for International competition and Ceaser and Viceroy for the national classes.I am going down on saturday morning with Cruisings Micky Finn to jump the Queens cup.

We both had a good weekend last weekend, Billy was jumping in San Patriano with Blue Thunder who won a class the first day and 3rd the second day in the big class .Maximum Joe had an unlucky fence in the jump off of the grand prix,and viceroy was well placed in the young horse classes.

I was at southview where i won the Trizone Newcomers 2nd round on John Steeles Adelgonde Z qualifing for HOYS.Sue Davies's Still to Come was placed in the 1.30 on saturday and Wertherosschen also owned by Sue was doIuble clear.I had an unlucky fence Micky Finn in the first round in the Grand prix.

We are both off to Gijon 5* show in Spain next week,Billy is taking Mountinis Colorado Ceaser and Blue Thunder, and I am taking Cruisings Micky Finn and Tinka's Serinade.

Aachen this week

Billy is competing in Aachen this week where he will jump Je T'aime Flamenco on the team in the maydem super league nations cup,He has also takin three other horses;KEC maximum joe,blue thunder and viceroy.

Doug ,(flamenco) had an easy day today just jumping a couple of fences before retiring in the first class in preperation for tomorrows nations cup, Joe had one fence down in the big class today and oscar(viceroy) had an unlucky fence in the young horse class.

Back on the yard we had a busy day trying to get all the horses worked and jumped as i am going to chester show this week. im planning to take six horses on friday and then decide the rest of the weekend after they jump.Being a bit short on staff at the moment makes our days a bit longer but hopefully we will have a couple more in tommorow.

Twomey Triumphs in St. Gallen

Billy Twomey triumphed in the CSIO 5 star Grand prix in St. Gallen, Switzerland on Sunday,riding Sue and Ed Davies's brilliant young stallion Je Taime Flamenco.

With €200,000 on offer, only three riders were clear going into the jump off, although 12 riders were taken through.

The three contenders where Billy for Ireland, Marcus Ehning for Germany and Richard Spooner for the USA.

Billy was the only rider to go clear in the jump off guaranteeing him the €61,000 winners prize.
A delighted Billy stated "Je Taime has been going brilliantly all year with his grand prix wins in Belfast, Amsterdam and his consistent results in the Meydan Nations Cup Series. I am delighted for his owners, Sue and Ed Davies who have supported me for many years.

"My main focus for Je Taime Flamenco this year, is selection for the Europeans at Windsor in August, so I don't want to over jump him before then. I am lucky to have such strength and depth in my string of horses for this season, with the addition of the Kennedy family's Kec Maximum Joe."

The Pewitt team have a weekend at home this weekend, competing the young horses at local shows.
